Objective

Business Plan competition is to foster entrepreneurship among IIT Roorkee alums, and to provide an integrative learning experience for the community. Primary Objective of competition is to provide Roorkee alums a platform for refining ideas and business plans for Pan IIT 2009 competition. This competition aims at the following:

  • Refine your ideas

  • Meet and learn from seasoned entrepreneurs

  • Build a network of mentors, investors and advisers

  • Develop your business plan

  • Present your plan to key members of the regional entrepreneurial and venture capital communities.

**Only businesses requiring seed stage funding would be considered. The competition will accept entries from participant teams with at least one IIT Roorkee Alumni as a member.


Opportunity for Entrepreneurs

  • 1-1 Mentorship session with Executive Committee

  • Pre-review and guidance for selected entries for PAN IIT Competition

  • Consideration of Angel Investment

  • Cash Prize for top 2 entries

    • First Prize: $1,000

    • Second Prize: $500

  3. Life sciences/Healthcare

  4. Educational Products/services

Execution Process & Timelines

  1. Submit initial entries to bizplan.2009@iitr-heritagefund.org by June 15th, 2009

  2. Initial entries should included either a 1-2 page business idea summary document or 4-5 slides on business plan

  3. After initial review of the plan, an executive coach will be assigned for further refinement and plan documentation

  4. Business plans will then be presented to the executive committee who will select top 2 entries for heritage fund competition.



Pan IIT 2009 Event

The Final event would be held at the Pan IIT Conference 2009 in Chicago. The winners from round 1 would be required to submit a detailed business plan two months before the finals. These business plans would be reviewed in depth by a panel of judges for Pan IIT business plan competition.


The event would involve a 20 minute presentation for each business plan, followed by 10 minutes for Q & A. At the end of the session, the judges would determine the winner of the completion. The winners would be awarded with the prize money, and be considered for seed funding by the IIT Angel Fund.
